Investing in the future A children village for orphans

In cooperation with our representative in Uganda, we support local people to set up a Children Village that includes a home for orphans, schools, and a farm.  

Orphanage and Schools

  • In addition to helping individual children, we as Helping Hands Family support a local Ugandan orphanage and its primary school, the «Mercy Orphanage Home».

  • The Mercy Orphanage Home is located in a poor neighborhood of Kampala, the capital of Uganda. About 60 orphaned children found a new home there. During the last years, we could support their school with pens and pencils, writing books, and wooden benches. What is more, the children get sufficient food now.

  • In order to further improve the nourishment, we currently help the Mercy Orphanage Home to establish its own farm for growing fruit and vegetables. This has two advantages: the costs for buying food will be significantly reduced, and the children learn to contribute to their livelihood.

Alice, our representative in Uganda

  • Alice Kisakye, the representative of Helping Hands Family in Uganda, has been outcast from home when she was a young girl. Today, she is a self-conscious lady since we found her and provided her with education as a secretary and project manager. She diligently cares for all the children and hopeless women in our program and administers the funds.

  • One of these women is Theopista. She is a young grandmother, caring for her four grandchildren, while being disabled and not even able to walk. We managed to organize a wheelchair for her, and could give her hope for her future.
